The Robinson Helicopter Company Maintenance Course is an essential training program for those involved in the maintenance and repair of Robinson helicopters, ensuring high standards of safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. It provides aviation mechanics and technicians on the proper maintenance, repair, and overhaul of R22, R44, and R66 helicopters. It covers essential topics such as inspection protocols, troubleshooting techniques, and repair procedures specific to Robinson the R22, R44, and R66. Participants in the course gain hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge under the guidance of experienced instructors. The goal is to ensure that maintenance personnel are well-equipped to perform their duties effectively, adhere to safety standards, and maintain the reliability and airworthiness of Robinson helicopters. This training is crucial for maintaining operational excellence and safety in the aviation industry.
Thorough review and explanation of the Maintenance Manual, as well as an exclusive factory tour for attendees.
Daily written exams are mandatory, and passing grades are essential. Practical evaluations during shop sessions assess hands-on performance.
Failure to pass exams or demonstrate safe inspection and maintenance skills, as judged by the instructor, may result in course failure.
8 full days during the week.
Approximately 1.5 hours of reading homework is assigned nightly.
Classes are from 7.45 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
A continental breakfast is provided daily.
To get the certificate of completion, students must attended the entire course. Attendance alone does not guarantee passing.
This course does not possess approval from Transport Canada or EASA. Please refer to the 'Other Training' section for information regarding Transport Canada and EASA.
U.S. government-licensed airframe mechanics or their foreign equivalents.
Fluent English speakers (note: this course is also available in Spanish).
Calculator (most cell phones have adequate calculators).
Colored markers or highlighters, at least 4 different colors, for tracing electrical schematics.
Appropriate shop or work clothing. Sandals, sleeveless shirts, shorts, etc. are not permitted.
DO NOT BRING TOOLS. Robinson provides all necessary tools.
Government-issued Airframe Mechanic (or Engineer) License, or military equivalent for active-duty personnel attending on orders.
A working knowledge of aircraft hardware, piston engines, magneto ignition systems (R22/R44), turbine engines (R66), TIG welding of aircraft steel tubing, sheet-metal construction & finishing, metal fatigue, weight & balance, basic physics, and basic electronics.
Familiarize yourself with Robinson Maintenance Manuals, Parts Catalogs and Pilot’s Operating Handbook for all three models; R22, R44 and R66. This can be found on our website at “Publications”.
Sky Ranch Engineering Manual. Purchase from Customer Service and reference RHC Part No. R5630. Read Introduction & Chapter 1 prior to the first day of the course.
